It is now Saturday, 7/14, and we are hanging out in Cheyenne, WY. We plan to be here until next Thursday. The reason for not moving is mostly the weather. We plan to spend time in Kansas, Tennessee, and Missouri, and the weather there is predicted to be HOT, HOT, HOT!. Cheyenne is warm in the mid-80s, so it is livable, but the upper-90s with higher humidity further east is not so good for us or the dogs.
Catching up on what has been going on: last Monday we drove north from Cedar City to Brigham City and stayed at the Golden Spike for a couple of nights. We visited with Chuck Voris at his assisted-living quarters in Clearfield and had lunch with him and his daughter Kay. Chuck, 13 years older than Alice, is on 8 liters of O2 per day and his macular degeneration blocks most of his sight. It was a good visit, but after 3 hours he tired and we went back to our rig.
One bit of helpful information came from Chuck. He had started having evidence of macular degeneration nearly 25 years ago, and it has only been recently when he could not see well enough to read his computer screen. Alice has an early stage of the condition (it is genetic), so with the help of her supplements, it may be that long before she is incapacitated.
Wednesday I replaced a trailer tire. While sitting in camp at the Golden Spike, I saw evidence of abrasion from when I had run over a curb, and Les Schwab agreed it would not be a good idea to travel any further on that tire. I was just glad I had made it 800 miles over the last couple of days. The rim was bent a little so they could not do a good balance, but the new tire appears to be traveling well with no excessive wear.
After getting the new tire, we continued east. We traveled 185 miles to Green River, WY, and stayed at what used to be Tex's RV Park. Rain and wind came through after we were parked, so we felt no problem from it. The weather did stay cool. FYI, the Green River is running quite well for this time of the year, so Flaming Gorge should be full.
Thursday we headed on down I-80. We stopped for fuel and lunch in Laramie. I took the wrong turn and ended up driving through the heart of the town. It would have been bad, except we found a Safeway Store downtown that had diesel fuel for $3.489 (with club membership), 25 cents less than some stations along the freeway. I saved enough to cover lunch and dog food (a rotissoried chicken) and a bag of cherries.
I had looked at the comments on Google about RV Parks in Cheyenne, and A.B. Camping had the best recommendations. I made reservations by phone and we pulled in about 3pm. Alice wanted to stop for a few days, and we finally stretched that into a week to avoid the hot weather coming up. It is a very pleasant place, and they are noted for their BBQ which we plan to sample while staying here.
We are now hanging out in the capital of Wyoming. There are several museums to go see and we know where the Safeway is with its cheap fuel. There may be some thunderstorms in the next couple of days, but it is rest and write time. The dogs love it.

Had run over a control, and Les Schwab decided it would not be a wise decision to journey any further on that wheel.
