Sam and Alice Penny

We are Sam and Alice Penny.  We have been full-time travelers for 8 1/2 years.  This picture was taken of us atop Cadilac Mountain in Acadia National Park in August 2004.  This blog is a restart of our website "TwoPennyTravels.com" which we have not updated in almost 3 years. I (Alice) will be doing most of the posting this time to keep our family more up-to-date on our whereabouts.

    We are currently in Tacoma, Washington, in the backyard of David and Krista's house. This is a house they kept as a rental when they were transferred back east.  Krista was here preparing the house for another tenant and visiting their kids Jason and Ashlea when, on July 4th, their son Jason was hit by a speeding pickup. 

    Jason was critically injured and a friend was killed.  The doctors are surprised that he is still alive.  He has plates in his jaws, 14 broken ribs, internal injuries, a separated pelvis and compound fractures of his femur and his lungs collapsed just after the paramedics arrived.  (I think that is all.)  the doctors kept him in a coma for about 3 weeks so he remembers nothing of the worst of it.  He still has surgeries to look forward to.  Krista and David plan to take him back to Dover, Delaware, where they live, for rehab.

    On a brighter note, we are enjoying seeing Krista, Ashlea & her husband and son Jesse and daughter Fayth who lives with Krista and David.  David will be coming on the 25th to celebrate Krista's birthday (and Jason's and Ashlea's all August birthdays).  We will still be here when David arrives.
