This week we are attending the Gypsy Journal Gathering at the Yuma Fairgrounds. We have a booth to show our LED lights, and I am giving a seminar on Wednesday on "Understanding LEDs in RVs."
With only 200 attendees, there may not be many big sales, but the qualtiy of the people attending will make up for that. We expect to make a number of new friends and point them in the right direction on LED lighting.
The thing I am stressing this year is our committment to quality. While we have tried to focus on product that could be built in the Mesa AZ factory, we are being forced more and more to buy product from China. There is simply too much price pressure -- people will pay for some quality but not all.
Instead, we are searching for the best product. I have been stressing in my discussions and writing is that whenever we (Neutek/Prudentrver) select a product from the Far East we do three things: 1) evaluate the product for good design to ensure it meets our standards for the RV environment, 2) carefully monitor the manufacture of the product to ensure consistency of the quality and color, and 3) apply a strong Quality Assurance testing regime to ensure the product we deliver to our customers can be warranted for the extended periods we support. We are known for Quality - a feature not many other commodity providers of LEDs in the US can claim.
The W9.RV3N is a good example: Kelly (our engineer/designer) selected a design that had the kind of voltage regulation he approved of, he ensured that the color consistency of the product is kept constant, and we are testing each individual unit to ensure it works before going out. With our pricing strategy, we are blowing the market apart. Our competitors are suffering because they offer commodity product from China without the necessary Quality Controls. We know because we are replacing their products.
So I hope it will be a good show. Time well tell.
