I am finally getting around to "publishing" my next book entitled Phoenix of Memphis. This is Book 3 of the 7.9 Scenario series, telling of the attempts for recovery after a giant 7.9 magnitude earthquake series described in my first two novels Memphis 7.9 and Broken River.
I am writing this book as a series of short stories and publishing them on the Phoenix of Memphis blog, one short story every week or so. The associated blogs I have linked above tell of the overall structure of the earthquake research and scenario I developed ten years ago and provide synopses of the two novels about the earthquake. When finished I intend to publish the entire set of Phoenix of Memphis short stories as a kindle book.
This is a different approach to writing and publishing. I find it easier to describe the world after the earthquake in the short story format, or at least what I think short stories can be. I will learn more about that genre as I gain experience. Publishing on a blog that arranges your posts in their chronological publish date makes it a challenge to tell a story that takes place over a different order of time. So this will be a double challenge.
And as a matter of timing -- it is obvious that the next New Madrid earthquake series has not happened, but we are another day/week/month closer to the time when it does happen. For reference, I am pegging the occurrence to be in the next 25 years, and the probabilities for that still look significant.
I will appreciate any comments about the individual stories as they come out. I reserve the rights to rework any or all of the stories over time, but I will keep you informed of changes on those blogs.
