My mind is divided.
One part of me says the politicians in our Federal government should come together on a compromise on a balance of spending cuts and revenue increases that keeps our country moving toward a better, more equal future for all our citizens.
Another part of me says to cut off spending now and force the country to learn a major economic lesson on how our reckless greed of the past decades has led to the downfall of our whole society.
Too much of my recent personal experience has been to warn people that they need to stop denying the problems around them, think rationally, reduce their risk, and change their ways. I have not had much success on this endeavor.
Most people I meet want to have their cake and eat it, too. They don't want to even think of the problems that might affect our lives. They deny that there could be a problem with global weather changes, They deny they need to prepare for an earthquake, even though they live atop one of the most heavily faulted regions on the earth. They deny that the human race needs to find a way to reverse the population around the world.
The problem is in me. I am the one who worries, probably too much. So, I will try to tone it down.
But, the part of me that wants our government to act rationally and reach a compromise gets more time, and I worry about that. One thing for sure, if they cannot get the job done, let's vote them all out of office.
