Mail to WWO

A message to an alternate world, the World Without Oil

While I have ported back to my real world from WWO, I have great memories of my experiences there and the friends I made. I still care about WWO.

In my real world I continue to do lots of research on the Internet, reading news, reports, and blogs that pertain to my writing efforts. Today I came across a blog by Ian Welsh in The Huffington Post entitled Limits To Growth? that contains a different way [to me] of looking at our world's situation and what we must do about it. I recommend you read his words and heed his suggestion

  • "The original "Limits to Growth" was wrong because it didn't take substitutions, efficiencies and technological growth into consideration - if we want the current limits to be mitigated we have to work those three things -- efficiencies, substitutions and technological advance, as hard as we can."

From a high level perspective, Ian offers a direction and a focus for our efforts. And as one commenter pointed out, we need leadership to get us on the right track. I expect some of those in WWO, who now understand how bad the alternatives can be, will provide a part of that leadership in the future.
